Objetives
The deadline for paper submission is September 30th 2008. Papers will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee and an acceptance letter will be sent to the participants before October 15th 2008.
Any contribution in the broad area of the interactions between the hydrological resources and society, with applications within the African context would be welcome. For example, the following list can serve as reference topics:
The problems of water management and the hydrological cycle in the face of climate change with particular reference to African regions.
Models of integrated management of water resources in humid coastal ecosystems
Generating models for the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources, particularly water resources.
The use of indicators to assess the prior situation and the progress in the different dimensions of sustainable development, which are result of the design and implementation of strategies and policies of development.
Interactions between water management and health effects, and the prevention of various diseases.
The role of women in management strategies for water resources: gender and water.
Preservation of ecosystems and native biodiversity.
Exploitation of natural and cultural resources through ecotourism.
In addition, the meeting will include a panel session on the analysis of technological solutions for integrated management, with the following issues:
"Sustainable principles for the design and choice of cooperation and development projects with high technological contents in humid areas and ecosystems".
"Analysis of alternatives and design of appropriate technological solutions for water generation and distributions in small villages located in humid areas and ecosystems".
Instructions for paper submission:
1.- FILE NAME: Name your file with the last name of the first author. All documents should be submitted electronically in PDF format (name.pdf). Please note that if the same authors send more than one manuscript, the index number must be used as follows: name1.pdf, name2.pdf...Be sure to review the PDF file you have created before sending it to verify that text and formulas have been transferred correctly.
2.- COVER: Each paper must have a cover page which includes the following information: Title of the paper, author(s), affiliation of the author(s), e-mail, address, telephone, fax, and the name of the Workshop.
3.- STRUCTURE OF THE PAPER: The paper will comprise an abstract of 250 words and a manuscript of up to 25 pages (double space standard Arial 11 point type, including title, tables, figures, and references).
